Six separate readers have sent in near-identical reports about a compact 20,000mAh power bank sold under several different storefront names on major marketplaces, all appearing to source from the same manufacturer.
The pattern
Each report describes the same sequence: the power bank charges normally for the first few weeks, then during a longer charging session the casing becomes noticeably warm, followed by visible swelling along one seam. No injuries have been reported, but two readers described the swelling as severe enough that the case had begun to crack.
What we know so far
- The unit ships under at least four different brand names, all pointing to the same factory code printed on the base
- It is not currently listed on any official recall database
- The listing remains active as of this report, now with over 8,000 units sold under one storefront alone
If you own one of these
Stop charging it unattended and do not charge it overnight. Move it away from anything flammable while in use, and if you notice any warmth beyond what feels normal or any change in shape, stop use immediately and dispose of it at a battery recycling point — never in household trash.
Reporting it further
If you've experienced this, consider filing a report with your country's consumer product safety authority in addition to leaving a review. Regulatory reports carry more weight toward an official recall than marketplace reviews alone, and they're what eventually gets a listing pulled.
